Will Play Therapy help my child?

Posted: Jan 24, 2025

Play Therapy can help a child to process thoughts and emotions in a developmentally appropriate way.  As children experience challenges and changes in life, they often lack the vocabulary to articulate their ideas and feelings.  A play therapist offers the child a safe and nurturing environment where cognitive and emotional processing is observed and understood through the language of play.

Play Therapy allows the child to be themselves and does not place pressure on them to talk to their therapist using words.  The therapist is trained in observing and noting play themes, reflecting the child’s emotions, and celebrating the child’s successes.  In the Play Therapy setting, the child finds validation and can often move beyond whatever is troubling them and causing unwanted behaviors, thoughts, and emotions.
